Follow one piece

The habit that makes everything else easy.

Here's the most useful habit in cubing: follow one piece. Watch the white and green edge. F carries it down to the right side. Now U turns the top, but our edge isn't in the top layer anymore, so it doesn't move. Undo those, and it's home again. Before every turn, ask yourself two questions. What moves? And what stays?

Move the white and green edge down to the bottom of the front face. It can be any way around.

That's it. A half turn of the front face moved exactly the piece you wanted.
